2018 Honda Odyssey vs Toyota Sienna
Minivans like the Honda Odyssey and Toyota Sienna are great at providing lots of space for your whole family. So, what else can these vans offer families in Gulfport, Long Beach, and Biloxi?
Pat Peck Honda finds out for you and helps you decide which one is right for you in this 2018 Honda Odyssey vs. Toyota Sienna comparison.
2018 Honda Odyssey vs Toyota Sienna: Safety
The 2018 Honda Odyssey is a minivan that's primary focus is on keeping you and your whole family safe. It does that with a strong frame that's made with an Advanced Compatibility Engineering™ (ACE™) body structure. This design is built to absorb energy during a collision and redirect the force away from the seating areas.
Inside this solid structure, there are airbags all the way around the interior, including Advanced Front Airbags, SmartVent® Front Side Airbags, Driver's and Front Passenger's Knee Airbags, and Three-Row Side Curtain Airbags with a Rollover Sensor to cover the whole van.
To help prevent accidents before they occur, this van is loaded with driver assistance features. You'll have the Honda Sensing® system looking out for you on all sides with technology like:
- Lane Keeping Assist
- Lane Departure Warning
- Forward Collision Warning
- Collision Mitigation Braking System™
- Adaptive Cruise Control
The 2018 Toyota Sienna also includes a number of driver assistance features, and airbags that protect all three rows of seats. However, it doesn't have the same intelligent ACE™ body structure to push force away from your passengers.
2018 Honda Odyssey vs Toyota Sienna: Infotainment
Inside the 2018 Honda Odyssey, you'll find an 8-inch high-resolution touchscreen on your dashboard for your infotainment system. It's Bluetooth® compatible to take phone calls with HandsFreeLink® and stream music with Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™.
The 2018 Toyota Sienna also features a touchscreen infotainment system, but it doesn't offer Apple CarPlay™ or Android Auto™. It also has a smaller 7-inch screen.
If you want to focus on driving and let your passengers take control of the playlist on your next road trip, they can sync their smartphones with CabinControl™. It lets everyone hear their favorite songs by allowing multiple users to create a Social Playlist.
The infotainment system in the Toyota Sienna doesn't offer anything like this and limits its Bluetooth® capability to one phone at a time.
2018 Honda Odyssey vs Toyota: Features
Convenient features are a big part of what makes a minivan great. The 2018 Honda Odyssey is packed with great features to give you an easier drive, like the Hands-Free Power Tailgate. Just hold your foot out in front of the rear bumper and the trunk opens up for you.
While the 2018 Toyota Sienna does offer a power liftgate, it requires a key fob. It doesn't have hands-free access, so you'd still have to put your bags down to open the trunk.
The spacious interior has lots of cargo room and folding seats, but with removable Magic Slide 2nd- and 3rd-Row Seats™, you can stack cargo like 4-foot x 8-foot plywood flat on the floor of the van. After you're done unloading, you can clean up quickly with the built-in HondaVAC® vacuum cleaner.
The Toyota Sienna has folding seats and a large trunk, but it's not capable of removing the seats and giving you as much space or a flat surface.
