Dependable Battery Services

Like many parts under the hood, the car battery is an integral part of your vehicle’s smooth and dependable performance. Therefore, you want to make sure that it’s serviced and replaced as needed. How do you know when your car battery needs to be replaced and where can you find a car battery replacement?

If your Honda battery needs service or a replacement, visit Pat Peck Honda. We offer OEM Honda parts as well as advanced services performed by our team of trained technicians, so we can get you back on the roads of Gulfport, Long Beach, and Biloxi with a new battery quickly and easily.

Replacing Your Honda Car Battery

Replacing your car battery is simple. When you take your Honda to our service center, we’ll thoroughly inspect its power levels and condition. We’ll also take a look at everything under the hood to make sure every part is in proper working order.

If there’s corrosion or any other performance issues with your battery, we’ll perform the necessary services. If our tests show that it isn’t as powerful as it should be, we’ll suggest a battery replacement. We’ll swap out your old battery for a new one from our parts department. With a new high-quality battery under the hood of your Honda, your car can continue to produce that impressive, long-lasting performance you know and love.

We’ll keep you updated throughout the entire process, so you’re always in the know too. If you have any questions, don’t hesitate to ask us! We’ll be more than happy to help you with anything you need.

The Process of Replacing a Car Battery

What actually goes into replacing the battery when you bring your vehicle to our service center? It starts by detaching the negative battery cable from the battery itself. We pull up on the end of the cable, using a battery terminal puller if needed. Next, the positive battery cable is removed from the battery.

After both cables have been removed, the battery clamp is taken off. The next step is to take the battery out of the battery tray itself. Any corrosion that was left behind from the old battery will be cleaned up. The battery cable connectors will be checked too. There may be corrosion on these connectors, so a battery-cleaning solution will be used.

A new battery is placed into your vehicle and then secured using the hold-down clamp. The positive battery cable (red) will be attached and tightened, and then the negative battery cable (black) will be attached too. We’ll check that all connections are secured and send you on your way! It’s that easy to replace a vehicle’s battery.

Signs You Need a New Car Battery

For safe and dependable performance, it’s important to stay on top of your battery’s overall condition and perform any necessary maintenance, such as cleaning the terminals and testing its power levels.

You should also keep an eye out for the following warning signs that indicate you need a new car battery:

  • Low battery fluid levels or fluid leak
  • Swollen or bloated battery case
  • Slow engine crank
  • Problems with electronic features
  • Active battery dashboard warning light

These signs are typically the first warnings the battery emits when it needs to be serviced or replaced. If you’re experiencing any of these issues, you’ll want to schedule a service appointment to prevent any serious issues when you’re on the road.

Voltage of a Car Battery

For many, it’s common knowledge that a car battery is a 12-volt DC battery. However, your car’s battery voltage can keep you up to date about the condition of the battery itself. The ideal car battery voltage should be between 13.7 volts to 14.7 volts when the car is in use. If the engine is turned off, the reading should be right at 12.6 volts.

If the battery isn’t fully charged, it will be at 12.4 volts if it’s around 75% and 12 volts when down to 25% effectiveness. It dips slightly under 12 volts when discharged.

Test your car’s battery at home using a voltmeter. The positive cable of the voltmeter will touch the positive terminal of the battery, while the negative cable of the voltmeter touches the negative terminal of the battery. The reading will let you know if your car’s battery is in the right range or if it may need to be replaced.

Schedule Your Next Trip to the Service Center

If your vehicle’s lights are dimming or you’ve noticed that starting up the car takes a few attempts, it may be time to replace your vehicle’s battery. If this is the case, it’s time to schedule a trip to our service center. While we’re always happy to hear from drivers, we know that you may not have time to pick up the phone and give us a call.

That’s okay! Service can be scheduled on our website by using our handy online scheduling tool. We’ll be in touch to confirm your appointment. We’ll make sure there’s a replacement battery waiting for you at the dealership, place it under the hood, and get you back on the road as soon as possible!
